What is the purpose of WhatsApp Direct?

Adding someone to your contacts just to send them a single WhatsApp text is a bit difficult. You can send WhatsApp messages to a phone number directly with WhatsApp Direct, storing the message to your contacts.

To send a text message, simply choose the relevant country code, enter the recipient's phone number, and press the Send button. The contact is not saved on your device, but you will be taken to the WhatsApp chat for that phone.

Note: In order for the message to be received, the entered phone number needs to already be registered on WhatsApp.
